What is Upledger Craniosacral therapy?
Upledger CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive physical technique where the practitioner holds certain positions gently with their hands on parts of the spine head, and neck. The pressure is light and the result is relaxing. The examination is done by testing the range of movement and restricted movement in the body and reassessing post-treatment.
With CranioSacral Therapy, factors that compromise posture and function throughout the body are addressed with emphasis to those that appear in the head, spine, and sacrum There is a focus on the effect on the head and vertebral column, with their membranous and neurological contents, and their immediate connective tissues - collectively recognised as the craniosacral system. Because it acts on the deepest structures and organs of the nervous system, Craniosacral Therapy influences motor, pain, and coordination mechanisms, the digestive system via the cranial nerves such as the Vagus nerve, the respiratory system, heart function, and the endocrine system.
Upledger-trained practitioners use the CranioSacral rhythm in conjunction with other subtle evaluative techniques to locate and identify spinal cord cerebrospinal dysfunctions and restrictions of the important membranes that subdivide and support the brain. Cranial Nerve restrictions including the 10th cranial nerve, the Vagus nerve, can be gently accessed. It can also be used to pinpoint and frequently help areas of active tissue change such as inflammation anywhere in the body.
